Family-Friendly Serving Opportunities this Holiday Season

Taking some time over the holiday season to look for serving opportunities for those individuals and families that may be struggling and experiencing difficult times is a great way to celebrate this season.

As much as volunteering helps others, we get just as much out of the experience of serving others as they do.

We put together a list of family-friendly serving ideas that individuals and families can participate in this year. Who knows, maybe we’ll run into each other at one of them!

The social workers collect wish lists directly from the students in need. Then Big Hearts for Fox Valley distribute these wish lists to the community. For more details please visit https://bigheartsfv.org/volunteer-opportunities/.

Outreach Community Ministries

Outreach Community Ministries and its partner churches are dedicated to offering a full range of human service, educational, community development and faith activities. These activities help people and the communities they live in realize their God-given potential as uniquely gifted individuals.

They currently have volunteer opportunities for an Adult Christmas Party Dece 14th. For more details, visit https://www.outreachcommunityministries.org/older-adults-christmas-party/.

Operation Christmas Child

From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.

Angel Tree

One in 28 American children lives with the shame of a parent’s incarceration; that’s one boy or girl in every classroom. But together with Angel Tree, you can help these children feel loved and valued—unlocking their potential for a brighter future.

Angel Tree help you re-connect hurting families with prisoners’ children who live right in your area. Visit https://www.prisonfellowship.org/about/angel-tree/ for more information.

Toys for Tots

The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children.

Visit their website to find a campaign in your area https://www.toysfortots.org.

By the way, if there are other opportunities that you know of, please let me know. I would be happy to share your ideas with our Facebook followers.
